COURSE OUTLINE
At the end of the course, the learner will be able to:
• identify:
- factors influencing wildland fire behaviour
- types of wildland fires and their dangers
- various methods in contacting the fire department
- basic preventative measures
- types of fire lines and the construction thereof
- PPE to be used
- tools and equipment to be used during wildland fires
- problem situations that firefighters may encounter and the corrective actions
- understand and interpret the fire danger index levels
• explain:
- basic communication skills on the fire ground
- methods of attack in accordance with fire behaviour
- and demonstrate mop-up procedures
- legal requirements.
