SAMTRAC Health And Safety Courses

The world-leading courses in occupational risk management in the workplace.

SAMTRAC offers introductory to advanced levels of health and safety training across all sectors with tailored programmes for mining and construction.

As a stepping stone towards obtaining your SAMTRAC certificate, Introduction to SAMTRAC will provide learners with the ability to understand the fundamentals of HSE-related legislation and legal compliance as well as the ability to apply the techniques for hazard identification and risk assessment.

Upon completion of the course, the learner will possess both foundational and fundamental knowledge critical to occupational HSE management. SAMTRAC eLearning covers the integration of occupational HSE management, and students are taken through the practical process of implementing and maintaining an occupational HSE management system, using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle.

On completion of this course the learner will have the ability to apply the techniques for hazard identification and risk assessment, as well as understand HSE management system requirements and procedures.

On completion of this course, the successful learner will be able to develop and implement an HSE management system in accordance with the requirements of CMB001.

The flagship course in occupational health and safety management, SAMTRAC provides the learner with the technical knowledge of concepts, issues, procedures and techniques relating to HSE. This technical knowledge enables the learner to apply the core concepts of risk management and inform policy decision and strategic decision-making processes about the importance of risk management in any sector.

On completion of this course the successful learner will understand HSE legislative and operational control requirements within a mining environment.

On completion of the course, each learner will be able to build construction-specific health and safety knowledge onto the knowledge gained from attending SAMTRAC (or an equivalent health and safety course). It will also assist the learner to implement a construction health and safety management plan.

The course covers detailed theory required to understand the HSE philosophy and implementation thereof, however, it is predominantly a practical approach to apply an HSE philosophy within an organisation. It will equip learners to use the knowledge gained from having attended SAMTRAC, or an equivalent health and safety management course, to implement an operational integrated management system (IMS) with the required aspects of HSEQ.
