NEBOSH CONSTRUCTION CERTIFICATE

DURATION: 15 days (+1 day exam)

COURSE OVERVIEW:

The NEBOSH Construction Certificate comprises 3 units:

  1. NGC1 Management of Health and Safety
  2. NCC1 Managing and Controlling Hazards in Construction Activities
  3. NCC2 Construction Health and Safety Practical

The course provides employees in the construction industry with the essential knowledge required to enable them to take an active part in the management of health and safety in their workplace and the best way to integrate risk management into daily operations and monitor it effectively. It covers key construction issues in more technical detail.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

The Certificate is designed for people who have an involvement in construction work and need to provide advice on health, safety and welfare in construction work.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Understand best practice standards through HSG65, 18001, moral & economic requirements & implications for good standards in health & safety within an organisation.
  • Develop, promote & communicate an effective health & safety culture in an organisation.
  • Identify the key features of a health & safety policy, the preparations & performance review of a health & safety audit.
  • Understand the importance of proactive & reactive health & safety monitoring measures.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace & carry out risk assessments, record findings & review procedures.
  • Understand the main requirements and application of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.
  • Understand the factors to consider when carrying out a site assessment; identify construction activity hazards, assess the risks and recommend control measures.
  • Identify the hazards and outline appropriate control measures in the following areas: movement of people and vehicles, manual and mechanical handling, work equipment, electrical, chemical and biological, physical and psychological, working at height, excavation work and confined spaces and demolition.
  • Successfully carry out a safety inspection of a construction workplace identifying hazards, recommending control measures and preparing a management report.
