Introduction to SHE Safety, Health and Environment

INTRODUCTION TO OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT

(NQF LEVEL 2)

On completion of the course the learner will be able to control basic SHE hazards and risks at the point of action and in the execution of day-to-day operational tasks associated with designated job-related duties.

COURSE OUTLINE:

The course consists of 5 elements and successful learners will be able to:

  • Explain the scope and objectives of SHE legislation
  • Identify basic SHE hazards in the workplace
  • Carry out a preliminary risk assessment of the allocated job and work area
  • Take immediate, appropriate action to rectify the problem according to own scope and authority, or alternatively
  • Notify the correct person in the correct way to ensure further action is taken

TARGET GROUP:

 

- Employees new to the industry, or who have no formal SHE training

- Employees who are small-group team leaders, shop stewards, or those who are newly elected SHE representatives and who have not had previous exposure to SHE legislation and the fundamentals of organisational system management
